About Eric

Eric A. Ortega, having completed certifications recognized globally such as NSE4, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA A+, and 15 years of experience in the I.T. industry, he decided to find his own company “OCG IT Consulting LLC.” Leveraging tools such as Google search engine and the community around him he was able to become jack of all trades in the IT industry, from Computer Networking, to Server administration, all the way down to troubleshooting email issues or wifi, he learned as much as he could and was recognized by his employer as the “Rising Star” in 2015. Working for Managed Service Providers, at the highest technical levels, that service high profile clients recognized in the Chicago Land Area such Ghost Energy Drink, Seasons Hospice, U.S. Waterproofing, Rosemont Expo (Donald E. Stephens Convention Center) and more, he gained the experience needed to grow small businesses into medium to large size enterprises from an infrastructure standpoint.

Today Eric recognizes the gap in the technical understanding for small businesses and the challenges that business owners face when the cyber security aspect of their business isn’t managed properly. Although this problem exists for all small businesses, the Latino businesses in particular, have struggled understanding technology only to have problems exacerbated by a translation layer from English to Spanish.

Being bilingual and having a technical understanding of the world of technology, it is often understandable when our community feels overwhelmed. Eric has a natural inclination towards technology and teaching and enjoys being able to share the line of thinking when dealing with technical issues so the person can learn how to spot the problem and teach how to avoid the problem in the first place. He enjoys building custom computers he uses for Gaming on PC and getting a breath of fresh air by walking at the park with his dog Champa after a long day of staring at his monitors. Eric also enjoys watching anime since his teenage years and values both learning and teaching as a fundamental part of this journey, we call life.
